Support for Repairing a Nursery School Building in the Mountainous Area of Chiang Mai

Background/ภูมิหลัง

Ban Huai Tong School, located in the mountainous area of Mae Wang District in northern Chiang Mai, is a small public school with 194 children from kindergarten to lower secondary levels.

โรงเรียนบ้านห้วยตอง ซึ่งตั้งอยู่ในพื้นที่ภูเขาอำเภอแม่วาง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ตอนเหนือ เป็นโรงเรียนของรัฐขนาดเล็กที่มีเด็กนักเรียนตั้งแต่ระดับอนุบาลจนถึงมัธยมต้นรวมทั้งสิ้น 194 คน

On November 3, 2025, after several days of heavy rain and strong winds, a leak from the nursery building’s roof caused the ceiling boards to collapse.

เมื่อวันที่ 3 พฤศจิกายน 2025 หลังจากมีฝนตกหนักและลมแรงติดต่อกันหลายวัน หลังคาของอาคารอนุบาลเกิดน้ำฝนรั่วซึม ทำให้แผ่นฝ้าเพดานพังถล่มลงมา

The incident occurred early in the morning, so fortunately no children or teachers were injured, but the classroom has become too dangerous to use.

เหตุการณ์เกิดขึ้นในช่วงเช้าตรู่ จึงโชคดีที่ไม่มีเด็กหรือครูได้รับบาดเจ็บ แต่สภาพห้องเรียนก็ไม่ปลอดภัยต่อการใช้งานอีกต่อไป

Currently, the 20 nursery children are continuing their classes in the school meeting room, which is not suitable for early childhood education.

ปัจจุบัน เด็กอนุบาลจำนวน 20 คน ต้องเรียนหนังสือกันอยู่ในห้องประชุมของโรงเรียน ซึ่งไม่ได้เหมาะสมกับการจัดการเรียนการสอนระดับปฐมวัย

The space for play is also very limited, so it can hardly be called an environment suitable for early childhood learning.

พื้นที่สำหรับเล่นก็มีจำกัดมาก ทำให้บรรยากาศโดยรวมไม่อาจเรียกได้ว่าเป็นสภาพแวดล้อมที่เหมาะสมต่อการเรียนรู้ของเด็กปฐมวัย

Insufficient Funds for Repairs

According to the documents the school submitted to the local education office,

• Removal of the deteriorated roof and ceiling and installation of new ones การรื้อถอนหลังคาและฝ้าเพดานเดิมที่ชำรุด และติดตั้งหลังคาและฝ้าเพดานใหม่
• Repair of electrical systems damaged by water leaks การซ่อมแซมระบบไฟฟ้าที่ได้รับความเสียหายจากน้ำรั่วซึม
• Painting and finishing of the new ceiling and the interior and exterior walls การทาสีและปรับสภาพฝ้าเพดานใหม่ รวมถึงผนังด้านในและด้านนอกอาคาร

The total cost of these repairs is estimated to be 200,500 baht (approximately 960,000 yen).

งบประมาณที่ต้องใช้ในการซ่อมแซมทั้งหมด รวมทั้งงานเหล่านี้ ถูกประเมินอยู่ที่ 200,500 บาท (คิดเป็นเงินเยนประมาณ 960,000 เยน)

However, with the limited budget of a small mountain school, it is difficult to cover this amount.
