1. The Sila Boutique Bed & Breakfast
The Sila Boutique Bed & Breakfast is a comfortable and stylish hotel in the western part of the old city, directly across from Wat Phra Singh temple — just 30 seconds on foot to the Sunday Walking Street. From Chiang Mai airport, it's about 15 minutes by car.
Modern rooms come with air conditioning, a balcony, free Wi-Fi, and a refrigerator.
The bathroom is clean and comfortable.
Staff are very friendly. Note that the front desk closes late at night, but you can contact the owner in emergencies. Breakfast is available at the café on the ground floor.
The greatest draw is the location — right in the heart of the tourist area yet offering a glimpse of local Chiang Mai life. Perfect for a first visit to Chiang Mai.

G2 Boutique Hotel is a stylish boutique hotel with a European flair, in the southwestern old city. 800m from Wat Phra Singh, about 15 minutes by car to the airport and malls.
Modern rooms have a flat-screen TV, refrigerator, kettle, and a solid desk — great if you need to work during your stay.
The shower area is properly partitioned — no wet floor issues common in many Thai hotels.
Staff were kind and welcoming. My favorite chocolate café "Khom Chocolate House" is just 4 minutes away on foot.

3. Si Phum Heritage Boutique Chiang Mai
Si Phum Heritage Boutique Bed & Breakfast is a European-style boutique hotel in the northeastern old city, about 8 minutes east of Chang Puak Gate (north gate), with easy access to major sights.
The interiors have a European aesthetic and are very clean.
The lighting fixtures are particularly charming.
Toilet and shower share one space but are spotlessly clean.

Walking Street Residence is a convenient, comfortable guesthouse close to Tha Phae Gate. 5 minutes walk to the Sunday Walking Street, 8 minutes to Wat Phra Singh. Airport access is about 13 minutes by car.
The reception setup is simple. Staff can be a bit matter-of-fact but handle requests without issue. All 16 rooms have air con, refrigerator, flat-screen TV, and free Wi-Fi.
Shower and toilet are combined but perfectly functional.

S17@Nimman Hotel feels like an upscale Japanese business hotel — smart, clean, and well-priced. Located in the Nimman Hemin district, within walking distance of Chiang Mai University, shops, restaurants, and cafés. About 15 minutes by car from the airport.
The blue-accented rooms are comfortable and stylish.
There's also a sofa — two adults can spread out easily.
Toilet and shower are separate, and both are very clean.
A great choice if you're looking for an affordable hotel in the Nimman area.

The Opium Chiang Mai is a charming hotel featuring hill tribe crafts and traditional decorations. About 10 minutes by car from the old city and 500m from Tonin Market, with easy access to both the old city and Nimman Hemin.
The entrance is adorned with traditional Chiang Mai lanterns and embroidery.
Rooms are spacious, with air con, cable TV, microwave, kettle, and safe.
The shower and toilet are separate. The white color scheme gives a fresh, clean feel.
The hotel also has a pool and a gym.
The Santitham location gives a more local, neighborhood feel — ideal for repeat visitors or those who want to experience everyday Chiang Mai life.

The poolside area on the 1st floor also sells beer, drinks, snacks, and instant noodles. Shared crockery, a microwave, water dispenser, and towels are available.
Shower and toilet are separate. The shower room is spacious — though water pressure is slightly low.
