Chiang Mai Old City Local Walking Tour | Stroll with a Local Guide
The Chiang Mai you can’t see from the tourist sights alone: two and a half hours on foot through everyday life.
Rather than rushing between famous spots, this is an unhurried “neighbourhood stroll” through the lanes of the Old City and the temples where local people come to pray.

What kind of tour is it?
Chiang Mai’s Old City is a town ringed by a moat, with more than 700 years of history. Its charm goes well beyond the famous temples.
Narrow lanes, morning prayers, a bench in the shade. Everyday scenes you only notice at walking pace are everywhere.Starting from Kalm Village, we walk slowly through the Old City and finish with a tram ride around the moat, taking in the “air of daily life” in Chiang Mai.
A typical temple sightseeing tour
- Covers the famous temples efficiently
- Mostly travel by car
- A trip where you “look and learn”
This tour
- Walk the lanes and meet everyday life
- On foot and by tram, at an easy pace
- A trip where you “feel” the town
Three highlights of this tour

1. Step into everyday Chiang Mai
We walk the old lanes rather than the main roads. With the guide’s stories, an ordinary street corner turns into a tale.

2. A quiet temple where locals pray
Not a temple set up for tourists, but one where people from the neighbourhood come to pray day to day. We show you the temple as part of daily life.

3. A five-minute meditation and a walk through history
A short meditation in a quiet main hall. No special etiquette is needed. With a settled mind, we head for a temple steeped in history.
How the tour runs
Walk slowly, stop now and then. That’s the pace.
* The order and content of the visits may change slightly depending on conditions on the day.
