The Village
Location
We visit Baan Luang Nuea, a Tai Lue village in Doi Saket district, about 20 km east of Chiang Mai.
The Villagers
The village began preparing community-based tourism (CBT) in 2012 and started welcoming guests in 2014. More than ten years on, they keep improving their program.
The villagers share their way of life with one wish: that more people get to know Tai Lue culture.

Meet in Chiang Mai
Travel to the village by private van. You can also meet us at the village.

Arrive and ride the village vehicle
Hop on the village's own vehicle and ride through green farmland — your day in village life begins.

Fields and gardens, egg collecting, salad making
Villagers guide you through gardens and rice fields. Collect eggs laid that morning by chickens and geese and pick banana blossoms, then make a salad together.

Learn Tai Lue culture at the cultural center
Food, music and clothing passed down for generations. Try playing real instruments and watch villagers weave up close.

Home cooking by the village women, including the Tai Lue special "pad thai" and "khao jee" sticky rice cakes.

A tour full of Chiang Mai's grand nature and human warmth. We received a traditional welcome and learned about village culture and life. Even without a shared language, everyone communicated with us so much! Only about 30 minutes from the city — great even for short stays.
