Top 10 Nomad Cafés in Chiang Mai — Fast Wi-Fi Spots Listed

Chiang Mai is famous for its many stylish cafés.
However, there are also many "photogenic Instagram cafés" and small coffee stands, so just looking at Google Maps often doesn't tell you whether a place is suitable for working.
In this article, I — a Chiang Mai resident — introduce nomad-friendly cafés that meet the following criteria. I visited over 40 places and carefully selected these recommendations!
【Criteria】
· Long working hours allowed
· Fast Wi-Fi available
· Many power outlets
Below I introduce cafés by area. If you'd like to know more about the areas of Chiang Mai, check out this article.

① Old City & Nearby — Nomad Cafés in Chiang Mai
1. Smile Lanna Coffee

My personal hidden gem — a café I almost don't want to share with others. You can work comfortably in a traditional Lanna-style building, and the access from the Old City is excellent.
I especially recommend the 2nd-floor seating. Wide desks and an open, airy space allow you to concentrate on your work. The chairs are sturdy and comfortable even after long hours.

When you need a break, you can refresh yourself at the outdoor seats.

The Wi-Fi speed is fast — absolutely no complaints.

On weekdays, it's rarely crowded except around lunchtime. Definitely give it a try!
Hours: 8:00–18:00 (open daily)
Wi-Fi Speed: 200↓ / 240↑ Mbps

2. The Story 106 Co Working Space & Café

A staple co-working café in Chiang Mai, located near the Night Bazaar. The 1st floor is a café zone and the 2nd floor is a co-working space. Work alongside cozy, welcoming décor with wide, comfortable desks.

The coffee is great, but my personal recommendation here is the matcha latte. If you prefer less sweetness, ask for 25% or 50% sweetness.

Wi-Fi usage time increases with the amount you spend. The speed is also fast.

They also have delicious pastries on offer, so it's a great spot when you want to snack while working at a relaxed pace.

3. W8 x viangpha café

A casual café located a 5-minute walk east of Tha Phae Gate. The spacious layout makes it easy to concentrate on work, and the staff are very friendly.
Occasionally light meetings or language study groups take place inside, but the generous spacing between seats means you'll rarely feel distracted.

When you need a break, head to the outdoor garden seating surrounded by greenery.

The Wi-Fi is also blazing fast.

Artisan Café is located about 2 minutes south of the Old City by car. It's a stylish spot where you can focus on your work.

The drinks are delicious too.

The Wi-Fi is fast as well.

② Nimman Hemin — Nomad Cafés in Chiang Mai
5. Blue Coffee at Agriculture CMU

A favorite among Japanese expats in Chiang Mai, this café is located inside Chiang Mai University and features a beautifully stylish design.
The interior is full of people working, making it easy to focus. The chair comfort and desk height are both ideal for long work sessions.

Drinks are affordable and delicious. (Iced Americano: 75 THB)

There are many seats available (single, 2-person, and 4-person tables), but the private booth section has only 5 seats and is always full. If you want a booth, arrive early in the morning.

6. yesterday cafe'

A café in Nimman where you can work late into the night — open until 11 PM. You can even enjoy a drink while you work in the evening. Alcohol is also available at night.

7. Blue Coffee At Nimman

The sister café of #5, Blue Coffee at CMU. This location is also open until 1 AM, making it my go-to spot for late-night work sessions.
The interior has a simple layout. Though it's hard to see in photos, the sofa seats at the back of the 1st floor are my personal recommendation.

The Wi-Fi is also stable.

Centrally located in Nimman, yet perfectly suited for working. The drinks are excellent too, making it a great spot for a relaxed coffee break as well.

③ Ping River & New City Area — Nomad Cafés in Chiang Mai
8. The Baristro x Ping River

"The Baristro x Ping River" — a café that's perfect for both working and relaxing. It's one of my personal favorites. It takes about 10 minutes by car from Tha Phae Gate, but it's absolutely worth the trip.
The complex features multiple buildings with over 10 rooms available to guests. You can choose your favorite spot depending on your mood that day. Americano coffee is 80 THB.

When you need a break from work, head to the garden and relax while gazing at the Ping River. It's a wonderfully open, refreshing space.

"Vaanaa Cafe & Bistro" — a café a Thai friend introduced me to. It's about 10 minutes by car from the Old City, but the spacious layout allows you to work at a relaxed pace. I noticed many Thai locals working here as well.
Here's a view of the interior from the entrance. If you want to work, the seating area in the back is recommended.

In addition to drinks, the café serves delicious light meals including bread — another great reason to visit.

The Wi-Fi speed is stable here too.

I don't think this café is very well known among Japanese visitors yet. Definitely check it out!

Wi-Fi Speed: 400↓ / 510↑ Mbps
Access: ~15 min northeast of the Old City by car. Next to Central
④ San Thi Tam — Nomad Cafés in Chiang Mai
10. BOB Coffee

BOB Coffee in the San Thi Tam area holds the record for the fastest Wi-Fi speed I've ever personally measured at a café. The theme color is orange, and it draws a large crowd of Western digital nomads.
There are plenty of seats, so you're unlikely to miss out. The one downside: if you end up with a hard chair, your lower back may start to ache. Aim for a soft chair or keep your work session shorter if needed.

The drinks are great too.

The Wi-Fi speed recorded an incredible 810 Mbps download. Blazing fast!
